So happy to be sharing Rachel & Deb’s  gorgeous Stirk House wedding with you. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many wedding at this Lancashire wedding venue over the years. Making me a well rounded Shirk House wedding photographer. However its been a while since I was last here, so I really wanted showcase Rachel & Debs wedding, as its my most up to date look at this wonderful Lancashire wedding venue.

Rachel & Debs had a twilight wedding ceremony, into relaxed drinks then the evening reception. Making their day feel more like a big party. We lucked out with the February weather, landing a dry, sunny day. Giving us gorgeous light into the early evening.

Meet my Bartle Hall Couple!

We met when we were 17 years old at our mutual friends house party (he is one of our groomsman and takes every opportunity to remind that he introduced us ), we have been together 12 years this year

Cameron bought the ring ( I wasn’t aware) he went with his mum and my best friend to pick it. He had planned to propose during a weekend away in York, but he got too excited and proposed on a random week night in his bedroom at his mum and dads house, as I was going to leave….he shouted me back upstairs and he was down on one knee.

Bartle was the first venue we visited and instantly loved it. The surrounding gardens are beautiful and we love the contrast between the country house and barn.

I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed many weddings at Colshaw Hall. From beautiful summer outdoor weddings, to this  stunning winter wedding.  As a Colshaw Hall Wedding Photographer, I can honestly say its a dreamy venue, with a ton of backdrop wherever you turn. Rossendale Wedding  photography- WHAT a wedding! When a wedding venue has something a little different, then it gives me something exciting to get creative with.  Being based in Lancashire, I’m luck enough to photography at many unique wedding venues.  However this particular venue not only extremely unique, its based in the next village to home, in Helmshore, Rossendale.

Sarah & Jason an absolute joy to work with, right up my street. They met via a popular dating app, arranged to meet for a drink and the rest is history. They said they fell in love with the venue as it wasn’t a traditional wedding venue, that it was unconventional and rough around the edges. We also love Dot’s approach to farming and what’s she’s working towards in making her farm sustainable and eco-friendly

After a traditional church ceremony, in Jason’s home town of Clitheroe Lancashire we all travelled to Cronkshaw Farm in Rossendale for their party and wedding celebrations. We had a wonderful afternoon, feeding chickens, watching  the talented sheepdog round up a herd sheep. Drank beer and eat Lancashire crisps – What a total Joy!!

Ribble  Valley   wedding    photographer  – This awesome farm is located in the beautiful Alden Valley in Northern England   As well being a fully working farm, that offers venue hire for weddings & events, You can stay here in any of 4 types of rustic accommodation that they offer, including a TREEHOUSE! They can provide educational visits, toddler activity days & sheep dog demo sessions. You can zoom a goat, so they can give a special message to a loved, join in your work meeting or even have yoga session with the goats!

Cronkshaw Farm poultry, meat goats and sheep alongside our kitchen gardens, honey bees and broadleafed woodland. They use farming practices that promote healthy soils, care for the countryside, increase local wildlife and preserve traditional rural skills such as dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing and companion planting.

WHAT a fabulous year for me as Lancashire Wedding photographer

I was lucky enough to be non stop shooting from February to December this year, making 2022 one of my busiest years to date. As well as photographing lots of beautiful Lancashire weddings I also had the pleasure of getting down into Cheshire, Manchester and over to Yorkshire for a few wedding too. I generally photography weddings in and around the surrounding areas of the Ribble Valley, although I’m more than happy to photography anywhere in The North West.

I had the pleasure of covering some of my favourite Lancashire wedding venues this year including – Browsholme Hall,  Holmes Mill,  Eaves Hall, Bartle Hall,  Falcon Manor & Ashfield House.

Just wow! Jules photographed our wedding in April this year and was the perfect addition to our day from the moment she arrived, photography skills amazing but Jules is also the loveliest person who was on hand throughout the day to just help wherever she could, from helping tidy up with the bridal party to keeping an eye on our daughter whilst she napped during the wedding breakfast, she made us feel completely at ease! – Our day was captured perfectly and we now have the best bunch of pictures to treasure – thank you so much, we are so grateful!

Sarah & Saz chose to have my midweek coverage for their Thursday wedding, opting to extend it from 3hrs to 5hr. There was no preparations photography needed, and their celebrations at spring Cottage ended at 6pm. So ceremony, portraits, speeches, dinner, relaxing and first dance were all fitted neatly into a 5hrs coverage. The small selection of images below from their big day, are a perfect example of how many fabulous images you receive for type of coverage. Spring Cottage  wedding photographer

I fell in love with Spring Cottage as soon as I arrived. What a truly hidden gem of a wedding venue if you are looking for relaxed, informal vibes for your celebrations. Spring Cottage run weddings in the spring / summer peak season, from May to October. For me it the ideal venue for a intimate midweek wedding, like Sarah & Saz’s. Spring Cottage is set in the beautiful Rivington woodland in Bolton.  The venue allows space internally and externally for you to celebrate with close family and friends. Whilst internal rooms are beautifully decorated, the venue can come as a blank canvas, allowing couples to add their own personal touch whether that be adding individual decor or choosing table decorations.  The grounds can also be used by you too, whether that be for photographs or just for children to play and explore. The food is incredible ( I had a delicious meal provided by the couple?) catering menu changes depending on the season and is locally sourced. I absolutely loved my first time shooting here. So many great spots for portraits. Even using the happy yellow Hen house for some snaps – I just couldn’t resist, THAT COLOUR!!

I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed many weddings at the Outbarn in Lancashire . Always so happy to be back here, photographing weddings at this dreamy Lancashire wedding venue is an absolute pleasure. I’ve been here every season, from the hottest summer days to misty winter ones. In fact my most recent wedding was 2 weeks go in January. I’m here 5 times in 2024, with several bookings already in the diary for 2026 too. My first ever wedding here was  in the Summer of 2021 – Carly & Alex blog post which was a cracker of day with plenty of golden fields and golden light- just the BEST!

• How did you meet?

We were in the same college at university in Durham. We knew of each other, and our eyes locked across the dancefloor of Klute – Durham’s infamously terrible (and sadly now closed) nightclub. That was 2011, the rest is history.

• Tell me a little about the proposal.

At the end of a 5-day kayaking trip in Haida Gwaii (a remote group of islands off the west coast of Canada), we went for a short walk at the end of a day together overlooking the sea. There was no on one knee moment, we both talked about it (although Jimmy initiated the conversation) and engaged we became.

• What made your choose your The Outbarn?

The views, the welcoming vibe of the staff, the location (close to where Jimmy grew up), plus the owner is a friend of a friend.

I’ve Had the privilege of photographing over 25 Same Sex Weddings, all of them gorgeous and totally different. There are no rules with weddings – Gone are days where we follow a tradition of how to style yourself, plan you day, people you invite. Some couples love all the traditions of weddings and having all the traditional elements of day (although its becoming less popular). For me personally I say –  it’s your day, so do it your way. Is it more a party with lots of entertainment? there are lots of ways to make it totally represent your personality. The traditional main element of a wedding obviously the ceremony ( in whatever form you choose), but other than that you can make your day be whatever and do it however you like.
