So happy to be sharing Rachel & Deb’s  gorgeous Stirk House wedding with you. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many wedding at this Lancashire wedding venue over the years. Making me a well rounded Shirk House wedding photographer. However its been a while since I was last here, so I really wanted showcase Rachel & Debs wedding, as its my most up to date look at this wonderful Lancashire wedding venue.

Rachel & Debs had a twilight wedding ceremony, into relaxed drinks then the evening reception. Making their day feel more like a big party. We lucked out with the February weather, landing a dry, sunny day. Giving us gorgeous light into the early evening.

I’m absolutely delighted to finally be a wedding photographer at The Tithe Barn, Lancashire. The historic Tithe Barn is set within the grounds of the Duke of Devonshire’s majestic Bolton Abbey estate in Lancashire. Ceremonies take place in the main barn, with the outdoor ceremonies held on the terrace, with views across the Bolton Abbey Priory ruin.

Bolton Abbey Weddings

Katie & Tom decided not to have their ceremony at tithe barn, and chose the historic Bolton Abbey instead. Traditional ceremonies at church are less and less for me each year. So to have the opportunity to photograph a wedding ceremony in such beautiful grand surroundings was wonderful. With the strong natural lighting in Bolton Abbey gives striking drama to all photos.

After the ceremony I took Katie & Tom for a romantic wander around the Bolton Abbey in Lancashire ruins for their portraits. I’ve visited the ruins with my family on day trips many times, so was exciting to actually be here photographing a wedding! After a little relaxing alone time, and portraits complete, they headed to their drinks reception at The Tithe Barn.

Inside, the tithe barn’s majestic scale comes into its own. It is lit with up lights on the flagstone floor and fairy lights woven through the beams that support the barn’s elevated ceiling. Huge, medieval chandeliers refract candlelight around the room and colourful Moroccan stools are scattered around the bar.

This dreamy Ribble Valley winter wedding photography at Shireburn Arms  has to be one of my favourite ever festive weddings. Mostly because of Sophie & Matt, but also because of the dreamy golden hour we appeared at Cromwell bridge. That midday sunshine is always a corker at this time year.  As you can see Ribble Valley winter wedding photography looks stunning, so don’t let the cooler months PUT you off. Soft enough to shoot into but strong enough to give the perfect golden glow. This was my first December wedding at the Shireburn Arms, although over the years I have photographed at this Clitheroe wedding venue in pretty much all seasons, with my other favourite month being April, when the cherry blossom tree in the garden is in full blossom. If you get just the right window the tree will have enough blossom on the tree but also a layer of pink blossom on the ground too. Making the prettiest of photos – link here to see the proof!

Wyresdale Park Wedding venue in Lancashire, is an absolute gem!

This colourful Wyredales park wedding was a total real treat, beautiful venue and real great couple. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing two wedding at Wyresdale Park in Lancashire in 2024 and both have been beautifully colourful. I actually think both Chole & Suzie, my brides from both weddings chose me because of my colourful, virbrant, editing style. My style is  always captures the natural colours rather than muting colour or damping them down. There are so many beautiful colourful backdrops at the colourful Wyresdale weddings. There are stunningly awesome woodlands, the lake – where you can be brave and take a little trip out on the lake. The hall itself it also a stunning spot for portraits. What a reay love about Wyredale Weddings is the beautiful lodge where brides can use to get ready. The lighting in there is just perfect and the backdrop of the room make for lovely backdrops. The lovely light ceremony room is also a favourite. Sparth House weddings are a complete dream for all of us wedding photographer folk. When Beth’s enquiry popped into my Instagram box – I was instantly excited! Firstly because she sounded absolutely delightful ( and is!) and secondly because the venue was  Sparth House, so I was I was totally in. As a Sparth House wedding photographer I can say that if you are thinking of getting married at Sparth House then please book in for a food tasting. This will definitely swing it – you will book – Totally Delicious!  As a photographer if you are treated to a meal from your couple then, enjoy – you lucky thing!

I knew as soon as I spoke to Jules on the phone that I wanted to secure her as our wedding photographer. Jules could not have been more reassuring and helpful throughout our initial chat and she completely put me at ease. Jules was so much fun on our wedding day, she has such a great energy and she had some great ideas for group shots, bridesmaid shots, final touch shots and we have honestly been blown away by the final edits! At no point throughout our day did we feel like we were constantly having photos taken. We were able to fully relax and enjoy our day but we still have great memories that we can look back on. We wanted our photos to be natural and capture everybody enjoying themselves and they are more amazing than we could’ve imagined. I LOVE photographing at new venues, so  being booked by Charlotte & Joe to be their Victoria Warehouse Wedding Photographer was a big thumbs up. Don’t get me wrong I love all my Ribble Valley favourites &  the wedding venues that I’m lucky enough get too every season. However there’s something nice about seeing a venue for the first and challenge of eyeballing all the best spots for images. Where is the light looking beautiful, interesting colours and unusual backdrops. Victoria Warehouse is definitely an Icon building. Based in Trafford Park, Manchester, close to  Manchester United football ground and the O2 music venue. It was originally a old cotton mill, back in the day, so has bags of character, quirk and is definitely a different vibe for a wedding venue. ABSOLUTELY love it! – its soooo my bag. I LOVE to find out a bit more about how my couples met and how they chose their stunning wedding venue!

• How did you meet?

Charlotte and Joe met in April of 2014 on Tinder! While studying in her 2nd year of Uni, Charlotte would swipe carefully on tinder, analysing every eligible bachelors’ profile, assessing their bios and pictures before deciding whether to swipe right. Joe however, got finger ache from swiping right on EVERY SINGLE WOMAN in the hope one would be a match. Lucky for him, he’d passed Charlottes scientific profile analysis and it was a match! Weeks of texts and facetimes ensued before they eventually met in September, and by 7th October (9 years ago exactly today!) they were official! The years that followed saw 4 homes, 2 cities, 1 cat, 2 kids, holidays, getaways, and countless gigs. These two are all the cliches, the Ying to each other’s yang, a matchmade in heaven (on tinder).

• Tell me a little about the proposal

After Joe convinced Charlotte to have her nails done outside of her usual 4-week schedule, Charlotte had a suspicion that a ring might have been on its way, but she had pestered Joe to pop the question for years to no avail. One evening a few days before Christmas in 2019, Joe wanted to take Charlotte for an early Christmas present. A late-night drive to Saltburn-on-the-Sea had Charlotte confused. They pulled up at the bottom of the pier, which was illuminated in the dark with fairy lights. They both hopped out of the car watching the waves and the stars when Joe got down on one ACL damaged knee and popped the question! Saltburn holds a lot of sentiment for Charlotte as it was her late step dad’s favourite place, so it’s no surprise that a big yes and ugly crying ensued!

• What made your chose your venue?

We had loads of visits to venues planned… and VW was the first, we instantly fell in love with its alternative feel and the industrial vibe of the whole venue… I later took my gran to the venue to show her where we’d picked.. she looked around and was disgusted I’d picked somewhere that wasn’t conventionally pretty… at that point I knew id picked the perfect place hahah!

Meet the couple

• How did you meet? – We met whilst working together at David Lloyd gym in Chorley. Friends first for a year and then started dating. We quit work after 4 years to travel together.
• Tell me a little about the proposal – travelling through India at the time. We spent 7 weeks in the country. The type of travel that will test any couple. We went to the Taj mahal. A place where it was overrun with people and way too busy for a quit intimate proposal that I wanted. Sunset, on the river at the front of the Taj mahal, rob manages to get a small wooden barley floating wooden boat. Paid the man $5 and we set out for the sun set and picture of the Taj.
• What made your chose River Barn?  -We went to school with James the owner, he contacted me about the new venue they had made. I instantly fell in love.

My beautiful couple Laura & John were an absolute dream to work with. Bring the joy and  totally up for running around the grounds of Northcote in the windy October weather. I was concerned that Laura hair, dress would get wreaked, but Laura was like ‘don’t worry, lets do it!’ Laura & John are both mega metal heads, and normally spend every Halloween in USA watching a band. Due to COVID restrictions still in place for oversea flights they couldn’t, so decided the next best thing was to get married and party in the UK!  They both looked absolutely stunning. Laura in her gorgeous bride, red velvet shoes & red velvet cape. John choose a stylish aubergine suit, that looked super chic . Complementing Laura style seamlessly.
