• How did you meet? – We met on an app called bumble, then went on a first date to a bar in Ilkley. Interestingly we actually fell out on our first date!! But we couldn’t keep away and the rest is history.
• Tell me a little about the proposal – We were skiing in Tignes, he got down on one knee and proposed half way down the slopes! It was picture perfect.
• What made your choose your venue?  – I always knew when I got married I wanted wood and fairy lights, when I walked into Bashall I just knew it was the place for us.

Where do I even start with Jules. I am lost for words but I’ll try! My main worry about our wedding was that my partner absolutely HATES photos, I don’t think he would’ve been bothered if I told him I hadn’t even booked a photographer! It was a major concern of mine how he was going to deal with it on the day and I was really stressing for a long time about it. But oh WOW. After the ceremony we went off for our couples photos. I cannot explain the difference I saw in my husband. He was totally relaxed because of her. He was actually enjoying posing for the pictures!!! This dreamy Ribble Valley winter wedding photography at Shireburn Arms  has to be one of my favourite ever festive weddings. Mostly because of Sophie & Matt, but also because of the dreamy golden hour we appeared at Cromwell bridge. That midday sunshine is always a corker at this time year.  As you can see Ribble Valley winter wedding photography looks stunning, so don’t let the cooler months PUT you off. Soft enough to shoot into but strong enough to give the perfect golden glow. This was my first December wedding at the Shireburn Arms, although over the years I have photographed at this Clitheroe wedding venue in pretty much all seasons, with my other favourite month being April, when the cherry blossom tree in the garden is in full blossom. If you get just the right window the tree will have enough blossom on the tree but also a layer of pink blossom on the ground too. Making the prettiest of photos – link here to see the proof!

I’ve had the pleasure of photographing two wedding at Wyresdale Park in Lancashire in 2024 and both have been beautifully colourful. I actually think both Chole & Suzie, my brides from both weddings chose me because of my colourful, virbrant, editing style. Sparth House weddings are a complete dream for all of us wedding photographer folk. When Beth’s enquiry popped into my Instagram box – I was instantly excited! Firstly because she sounded absolutely delightful ( and is!) and secondly because the venue was  Sparth House, so I was I was totally in. I knew as soon as I spoke to Jules on the phone that I wanted to secure her as our wedding photographer. Jules could not have been more reassuring and helpful throughout our initial chat and she completely put me at ease. Jules was so much fun on our wedding day, she has such a great energy and she had some great ideas for group shots, bridesmaid shots, final touch shots and we have honestly been blown away by the final edits! I LOVE photographing at new venues, so  being booked by Charlotte & Joe to be their Victoria Warehouse Wedding Photographer was a big thumbs up. Don’t get me wrong I love all my Ribble Valley favourites &  the wedding venues that I’m lucky enough get too every season. However there’s something nice about seeing a venue for the first and challenge of eyeballing all the best spots for images. Where is the light looking beautiful, interesting colours and unusual backdrops. Victoria Warehouse is definitely an Icon building. Based in Trafford Park, Manchester, close to  Manchester United football ground and the O2 music venue. It was originally a old cotton mill, back in the day, so has bags of character, quirk and is definitely a different vibe for a wedding venue. ABSOLUTELY love it! – its soooo my bag. Victoria Warehouse Wedding Photographer

I LOVE to find out a bit more about how my couples met and how they chose their stunning wedding venue!

• How did you meet?

Charlotte and Joe met in April of 2014 on Tinder! While studying in her 2nd year of Uni, Charlotte would swipe carefully on tinder, analysing every eligible bachelors’ profile, assessing their bios and pictures before deciding whether to swipe right. Joe however, got finger ache from swiping right on EVERY SINGLE WOMAN in the hope one would be a match. Lucky for him, he’d passed Charlottes scientific profile analysis and it was a match! Weeks of texts and facetimes ensued before they eventually met in September, and by 7th October (9 years ago exactly today!) they were official! The years that followed saw 4 homes, 2 cities, 1 cat, 2 kids, holidays, getaways, and countless gigs. These two are all the cliches, the Ying to each other’s yang, a matchmade in heaven (on tinder).

• Tell me a little about the proposal

After Joe convinced Charlotte to have her nails done outside of her usual 4-week schedule, Charlotte had a suspicion that a ring might have been on its way, but she had pestered Joe to pop the question for years to no avail. One evening a few days before Christmas in 2019, Joe wanted to take Charlotte for an early Christmas present. A late-night drive to Saltburn-on-the-Sea had Charlotte confused. They pulled up at the bottom of the pier, which was illuminated in the dark with fairy lights. They both hopped out of the car watching the waves and the stars when Joe got down on one ACL damaged knee and popped the question! Saltburn holds a lot of sentiment for Charlotte as it was her late step dad’s favourite place, so it’s no surprise that a big yes and ugly crying ensued!

• What made your chose your venue?

We had loads of visits to venues planned… and VW was the first, we instantly fell in love with its alternative feel and the industrial vibe of the whole venue… I later took my gran to the venue to show her where we’d picked.. she looked around and was disgusted I’d picked somewhere that wasn’t conventionally pretty… at that point I knew id picked the perfect place hahah!

From beautiful summer outdoor weddings, to this very windy, but very  stunning autumn wedding.  As a Northcote Wedding Photographer, I can honestly say its a dream venue.

My beautiful couple Laura & John were an absolute dream to work with. Bring the joy and  totally up for running around the grounds of Northcote in the windy October weather. I was concerned that Laura hair, dress would get wreaked, but Laura was like ‘don’t worry, lets do it!’ Laura & John are both mega metal heads, and normally spend every Halloween in USA watching a band. Due to COVID restrictions still in place for oversea flights they couldn’t, so decided the next best thing was to get married and party in the UK!  They both looked absolutely stunning. Laura in her gorgeous bride, red velvet shoes & red velvet cape. John choose a stylish aubergine suit, that looked super chic . Complementing Laura style seamlessly. Ashfield house is simply a gorgeous blank canvas. It has the grand feel of a manor house, yet homely. Its  jammed packed full of quirky details (old and new), yet somehow manages to soak up the personality of each couple. The atmosphere is modern, chic & elegant. It has the charm of a manor house on its own estate, but on a smaller scale . Which is ideal for large weddings or a midweek intimate wedding alike.  I’ve  been lucky enough to be a  Ashfield House wedding photographer on numerous occasions. It never disappoints and no matter what time of year, its just stunning to shoot at. Ashfield house weddings

Weddings at Ashfield House are always beautiful, s o when I was asked if I was available on New Years Eve  to be Kate & Sam’s Wedding photographer at Ashfield house, I was totally in! I’ll be honest a big reason was because of the venue.  After a beautiful traditional church ceremony, we headed over to Ashfield House for the party. All the couples/ family portraits were taken as soon as we arrived. Beating the winter early sunset, and giving Kate & Sam plenty of time to relax with their guests.

Better  Rates!

It will be cheaper!.. its a dead cert that you venue (your most expensive layout for you wedding) will have winter rates and be a lot cheaper than mid summer months. If you go for a Thursday or Sunday you may get even better rates again. Other suppliers such as your photographer, that’s me will also offer winter discounts. I offer discounts for November, January, February & March. Ask around and you may get a discount with all your suppliers making a fabulous saving overall. Extended honeymoon anyone!

No Hot Mess

Lets face it – we think we want a hot sunny day but it really just leads to HOT MESS. The hair and make up melting away. Guys in their 3 piece suits over heating. Me! – taking you into the shade for photos cause the best backdrop at the venue has a blazing sun beating down onto it and everyone is blinded by the light. You get sunburn on or wedding day. I SEEN IT HAPPEN!!. Sunny wedding sound great but in reality it can be too much in a heavy full length dress of dreams, I have seen so many brides melting in the heat of summer and wishing they had gone for a thinner cooler dress. As a Browsholmwe Hall winter wedding photographer I’d say Winter Wedding’s win here too!

Less Stress

Winter weddings can definitely be less stressful to plan, get RSVP’s back from guests etc. In the summer friends are planning holidays and have busy calendars. The kids are off school there are so many factors. During Jan to March people are more likely to be free. It a time of year where not much is happening and everyone is up for a fabulous event  that they can put on their sparkiest outfits and head off to a party . As its a slower time for all us wedding suppliers we are refreshed, are looking head to the new year with fresh ideas and goals so everyone is at there a game.

All your loose ends will be tried up before Christmas so you can just kick back and relax over the festive period and enjoy!

Photos back quicker.

Between April & October the wedding photographer calendar is full on, as this when I shoot 90% of my yearly weddings. December can be a busy month for weddings for me too, but general November, January, February & March are the quieter month. So I can turn around a  full wedding edit in maybe 2 weeks rather than 6 weeks. Your videographer will possibly be the same. Get to see all you amazing photo & memories straight after the honeymoon. Sometimes I even send them to my couples as while they are on honeymoon.

Sunning Snowy Photos

Snow Queen & King… how dreamy would a white wedding be. Now I know that no one can really plan for a white wedding, its just pot luck isn’t it. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a several of snowy weddings and they are just the beautiful. The photography is amazing as the snow bounces light everywhere., which it so flattering against the skin. Wellies are a must which adds to the relaxed fun feel of the photos, although I have had brides who have braved the wedding shoes for that awesome shoe shot.

Go Glamour!

Dress up for a winter wedding – you can make it all about the glamour. As the temperatures are not melting. The guys will love to wear the full dinner suit and the ladies can go to town with disco sparkles and full on hollywood furs for that winter chill.  Sparklers at night will add to that whole winter wonderland affair

I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed many weddings at the Outbarn in Lancashire . Always so happy to be back here, photographing weddings at this dreamy Lancashire wedding venue is an absolute pleasure. I’ve been here every season, from the hottest summer days to misty winter ones. In fact my most recent wedding was 2 weeks go in January. I’m here 5 times in 2024, with several bookings already in the diary for 2026 too. My first ever wedding here was  in the Summer of 2021 – Carly & Alex blog post which was a cracker of day with plenty of golden fields and golden light- just the BEST!

• How did you meet?

We were in the same college at university in Durham. We knew of each other, and our eyes locked across the dancefloor of Klute – Durham’s infamously terrible (and sadly now closed) nightclub. That was 2011, the rest is history.

• Tell me a little about the proposal.

At the end of a 5-day kayaking trip in Haida Gwaii (a remote group of islands off the west coast of Canada), we went for a short walk at the end of a day together overlooking the sea. There was no on one knee moment, we both talked about it (although Jimmy initiated the conversation) and engaged we became.

• What made your choose your The Outbarn?

The views, the welcoming vibe of the staff, the location (close to where Jimmy grew up), plus the owner is a friend of a friend.
