• How did you meet? – We met on an app called bumble, then went on a first date to a bar in Ilkley. Interestingly we actually fell out on our first date!! But we couldn’t keep away and the rest is history.
• Tell me a little about the proposal – We were skiing in Tignes, he got down on one knee and proposed half way down the slopes! It was picture perfect.
• What made your choose your venue?  – I always knew when I got married I wanted wood and fairy lights, when I walked into Bashall I just knew it was the place for us.

I LOVE photographing at new venues, so  being booked by Charlotte & Joe to be their Victoria Warehouse Wedding Photographer was a big thumbs up. Don’t get me wrong I love all my Ribble Valley favourites &  the wedding venues that I’m lucky enough get too every season. However there’s something nice about seeing a venue for the first and challenge of eyeballing all the best spots for images. Where is the light looking beautiful, interesting colours and unusual backdrops. Victoria Warehouse is definitely an Icon building. Based in Trafford Park, Manchester, close to  Manchester United football ground and the O2 music venue. It was originally a old cotton mill, back in the day, so has bags of character, quirk and is definitely a different vibe for a wedding venue. ABSOLUTELY love it! – its soooo my bag. I LOVE to find out a bit more about how my couples met and how they chose their stunning wedding venue!

• How did you meet?

Charlotte and Joe met in April of 2014 on Tinder! While studying in her 2nd year of Uni, Charlotte would swipe carefully on tinder, analysing every eligible bachelors’ profile, assessing their bios and pictures before deciding whether to swipe right. Joe however, got finger ache from swiping right on EVERY SINGLE WOMAN in the hope one would be a match. Lucky for him, he’d passed Charlottes scientific profile analysis and it was a match! Weeks of texts and facetimes ensued before they eventually met in September, and by 7th October (9 years ago exactly today!) they were official! The years that followed saw 4 homes, 2 cities, 1 cat, 2 kids, holidays, getaways, and countless gigs. These two are all the cliches, the Ying to each other’s yang, a matchmade in heaven (on tinder).

• Tell me a little about the proposal

After Joe convinced Charlotte to have her nails done outside of her usual 4-week schedule, Charlotte had a suspicion that a ring might have been on its way, but she had pestered Joe to pop the question for years to no avail. One evening a few days before Christmas in 2019, Joe wanted to take Charlotte for an early Christmas present. A late-night drive to Saltburn-on-the-Sea had Charlotte confused. They pulled up at the bottom of the pier, which was illuminated in the dark with fairy lights. They both hopped out of the car watching the waves and the stars when Joe got down on one ACL damaged knee and popped the question! Saltburn holds a lot of sentiment for Charlotte as it was her late step dad’s favourite place, so it’s no surprise that a big yes and ugly crying ensued!

• What made your chose your venue?

We had loads of visits to venues planned… and VW was the first, we instantly fell in love with its alternative feel and the industrial vibe of the whole venue… I later took my gran to the venue to show her where we’d picked.. she looked around and was disgusted I’d picked somewhere that wasn’t conventionally pretty… at that point I knew id picked the perfect place hahah!

Meet the couple

• How did you meet? – We met whilst working together at David Lloyd gym in Chorley. Friends first for a year and then started dating. We quit work after 4 years to travel together.
• Tell me a little about the proposal – travelling through India at the time. We spent 7 weeks in the country. The type of travel that will test any couple. We went to the Taj mahal. A place where it was overrun with people and way too busy for a quit intimate proposal that I wanted. Sunset, on the river at the front of the Taj mahal, rob manages to get a small wooden barley floating wooden boat. Paid the man $5 and we set out for the sun set and picture of the Taj.
• What made your chose River Barn?  -We went to school with James the owner, he contacted me about the new venue they had made. I instantly fell in love.

Rossendale Wedding  photography- WHAT a wedding! When a wedding venue has something a little different, then it gives me something exciting to get creative with.  Being based in Lancashire, I’m luck enough to photography at many unique wedding venues.  However this particular venue not only extremely unique, its based in the next village to home, in Helmshore, Rossendale.

Sarah & Jason an absolute joy to work with, right up my street. They met via a popular dating app, arranged to meet for a drink and the rest is history. They said they fell in love with the venue as it wasn’t a traditional wedding venue, that it was unconventional and rough around the edges. We also love Dot’s approach to farming and what’s she’s working towards in making her farm sustainable and eco-friendly

After a traditional church ceremony, in Jason’s home town of Clitheroe Lancashire we all travelled to Cronkshaw Farm in Rossendale for their party and wedding celebrations. We had a wonderful afternoon, feeding chickens, watching  the talented sheepdog round up a herd sheep. Drank beer and eat Lancashire crisps – What a total Joy!!

Cronkshaw Farm poultry, meat goats and sheep alongside our kitchen gardens, honey bees and broadleafed woodland. They use farming practices that promote healthy soils, care for the countryside, increase local wildlife and preserve traditional rural skills such as dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing and companion planting.

WHAT a fabulous year for me as Lancashire Wedding photographer

I was lucky enough to be non stop shooting from February to December this year, making 2022 one of my busiest years to date. As well as photographing lots of beautiful Lancashire weddings I also had the pleasure of getting down into Cheshire, Manchester and over to Yorkshire for a few wedding too. I generally photography weddings in and around the surrounding areas of the Ribble Valley, although I’m more than happy to photography anywhere in The North West.

Words cannot express how amazing Jules is! From the second we met she made us feel so welcome, and at ease (and neither of us are massive fans of having our photos taken). Jules was there every step of the way and always happy to answer questions, whether it be providing straight forward, but helpful, documents to complete prior to the wedding, to advising on inspiration pics/styles etc. The day ran like clockwork with Jules’ help, with her getting the perfect photo opportunities and even mucking in to help with the bridesmaids and flowers. There were times that we completely forgot that photos were being taken as we were so relaxed. Lancashire   Wedding   Photographers

I normally photography at least 2 wedding at Falcon Manor every year and ever time I always find new places within the gardens and Hall to photograph. There are those classic Falcon Manor images that are always lovely to capture. Like the beautiful back lit late evening image shot outside the front doors. Portraits on the dramatic stairs  are always a must too. I’m always most excited when I discover a new little spot where I’ve never captured before. My love of the silhouette shot is a firm favorite of mine, and at Falcon Manor there are so many spots to capture dramatic Silhouettes. The beautiful windows and doorways just lend themselves to these stunning shots.

Sarah & Luke are the most adorable couple.  This particular Falcon Manor wedding has to be my all time favourites. Not only were these guys so much fun to be around, but photographing their chilly March Winter wedding was a real treat. We popped out briefly in the fresh March air  for some cute sunlit garden portraits. Sarah & Saz chose to have my midweek coverage for their Thursday wedding, opting to extend it from 3hrs to 5hr. There was no preparations photography needed, and their celebrations at spring Cottage ended at 6pm. So ceremony, portraits, speeches, dinner, relaxing and first dance were all fitted neatly into a 5hrs coverage. I fell in love with Spring Cottage as soon as I arrived. What a truly hidden gem of a wedding venue if you are looking for relaxed, informal vibes for your celebrations. Spring Cottage run weddings in the spring / summer peak season, from May to October. For me it the ideal venue for a intimate midweek wedding, like Sarah & Saz’s. Spring Cottage is set in the beautiful Rivington woodland in Bolton.  The venue allows space internally and externally for you to celebrate with close family and friends. Whilst internal rooms are beautifully decorated, the venue can come as a blank canvas, allowing couples to add their own personal touch whether that be adding individual decor or choosing table decorations.  The grounds can also be used by you too, whether that be for photographs or just for children to play and explore. The food is incredible ( I had a delicious meal provided by the couple?) catering menu changes depending on the season and is locally sourced. I absolutely loved my first time shooting here. So many great spots for portraits. Even using the happy yellow Hen house for some snaps – I just couldn’t resist, THAT COLOUR!!
