Choosing a photographer for your special day is quite daunting….are they going to make me do those cheesy poses, keep me away from my guests for hours or make really awkward jokes?! Thankfully, Jules came highly recommended by our venue and after looking through her Instagram page at previous work and having a quick informal chat….we knew she was the perfect photographer for us – and she did not disappoint!! From the moment she arrived to capture my preparations in the morning, she felt like a family member. I’ve Had the privilege of photographing over 25 Same Sex Weddings, all of them gorgeous and totally different. There are no rules with weddings – Gone are days where we follow a tradition of how to style yourself, plan you day, people you invite. Some couples love all the traditions of weddings and having all the traditional elements of day (although its becoming less popular). For me personally I say –  it’s your day, so do it your way. Is it more a party with lots of entertainment? there are lots of ways to make it totally represent your personality. The traditional main element of a wedding obviously the ceremony ( in whatever form you choose), but other than that you can make your day be whatever and do it however you like.

As one of the recommended Red Hall Hotel Wedding Photographers  I am lucky enough to be invited to their open day & fairs. Small weddings have always been popular for weekday couples or those who have small families groups and want minimal fuss. Covid-19 and the government restrictions re gatherings has made these smaller gatherings – Micro weddings become a whole new thing within the wedding industry and are proving really popular.

Ever imagined just running off with your better half and getting married in secret? just the two of you. How romantic! Big party later?  Think how much more simpler it would be. With all your everlasting memories captured forever, with some beautiful  relaxed wedding photos. We always think of elopements as something that happens in 1940’s or Hollywood movies. It really does have that air of excitement about it.  Is an intimate weddings & Elopements perfect for you ?

Weekday Weddings

Monday to Thursday weddings have always been geared towards smaller more intimate weddings . If you are thinking of having a smaller numbers venues are more likely to cater for this on these quieter days of the week. It opens up the wedding dining to maybe even a restaurant rather than a hotel. Making pricing per head a lot cheaper. Maybe keeping things casual with a barbeque. Outfits – dress  & suit can be more relaxed and low key too. For some people this is a real bonus at they have never thought of themselves in the big white wedding dress or 3 piece suit affair.You could go the other way and book the venue of your dreams that you could never afford on a Saturday in the middle of Summer BUT…a Tuesday in January or February maybe right on budget. Just 15 to 20 close family and friends and you have a the perfect day!

Crow wood Hotel in Lancashire had just opened in the November 2019 when I was asked to photograph a styled shoot for Little White Books wedding Planners.  Since then I’ve photographed many Crow wood Hotel weddings Lancashire, including this New Year Eve wedding. Jon & Kate had the most wonderful wedding day at Crowwood Hotel. They choose a black & white theme, which perfectly worked with the black tie dress suits for the Groom Jon and his Groomsmen. Kate wore a chic satin, off the shoulder cream dress. Then changed into a stunning  silver sparkly number for her  second look. What an entrance for the first dance & party.

Even though it was a chilly December day, we had a little wander around the gardens and gorgeous lake, using the extensive grounds as our backdrop. I adored the art deco styling of the bar area, which would be a great spot for chic wedding portraits, don’t you think? The luxury hotel has a spa & gym attached to it making it really popular choice for Lancashire locals to celebrate their wedding day

She has photographed my maternity bump and a beautiful newborn shoot when my daughter arrived, which I treasure.
