I’ve had the pleasure of photographing two wedding at Wyresdale Park in Lancashire in 2024 and both have been beautifully colourful. Ashfield house is simply a gorgeous blank canvas. It has the grand feel of a manor house, yet homely. Its  jammed packed full of quirky details (old and new), yet somehow manages to soak up the personality of each couple. The atmosphere is modern, chic & elegant. It has the charm of a manor house on its own estate, but on a smaller scale . Ashfield house weddings

Weddings at Ashfield House are always beautiful, s o when I was asked if I was available on New Years Eve  to be Kate & Sam’s Wedding photographer at Ashfield house, I was totally in! I’ll be honest a big reason was because of the venue.  After a beautiful traditional church ceremony, we headed over to Ashfield House for the party. All the couples/ family portraits were taken as soon as we arrived. Beating the winter early sunset, and giving Kate & Sam plenty of time to relax with their guests.

Better  Rates!

It will be cheaper!.. its a dead cert that you venue (your most expensive layout for you wedding) will have winter rates and be a lot cheaper than mid summer months. If you go for a Thursday or Sunday you may get even better rates again. Other suppliers such as your photographer, that’s me will also offer winter discounts. I offer discounts for November, January, February & March. Ask around and you may get a discount with all your suppliers making a fabulous saving overall. Extended honeymoon anyone!

No Hot Mess

Lets face it – we think we want a hot sunny day but it really just leads to HOT MESS. The hair and make up melting away. Guys in their 3 piece suits over heating. Me! – taking you into the shade for photos cause the best backdrop at the venue has a blazing sun beating down onto it and everyone is blinded by the light. You get sunburn on or wedding day. I SEEN IT HAPPEN!!. Sunny wedding sound great but in reality it can be too much in a heavy full length dress of dreams, I have seen so many brides melting in the heat of summer and wishing they had gone for a thinner cooler dress. As a Browsholmwe Hall winter wedding photographer I’d say Winter Wedding’s win here too!

Less Stress

Winter weddings can definitely be less stressful to plan, get RSVP’s back from guests etc. In the summer friends are planning holidays and have busy calendars. The kids are off school there are so many factors. During Jan to March people are more likely to be free. It a time of year where not much is happening and everyone is up for a fabulous event  that they can put on their sparkiest outfits and head off to a party . As its a slower time for all us wedding suppliers we are refreshed, are looking head to the new year with fresh ideas and goals so everyone is at there a game.

All your loose ends will be tried up before Christmas so you can just kick back and relax over the festive period and enjoy!

Photos back quicker.

Between April & October the wedding photographer calendar is full on, as this when I shoot 90% of my yearly weddings. December can be a busy month for weddings for me too, but general November, January, February & March are the quieter month. So I can turn around a  full wedding edit in maybe 2 weeks rather than 6 weeks. Your videographer will possibly be the same. Get to see all you amazing photo & memories straight after the honeymoon. Sometimes I even send them to my couples as while they are on honeymoon.

Sunning Snowy Photos

Snow Queen & King… how dreamy would a white wedding be. Now I know that no one can really plan for a white wedding, its just pot luck isn’t it. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a several of snowy weddings and they are just the beautiful. The photography is amazing as the snow bounces light everywhere., which it so flattering against the skin. Wellies are a must which adds to the relaxed fun feel of the photos, although I have had brides who have braved the wedding shoes for that awesome shoe shot.

Go Glamour!

Dress up for a winter wedding – you can make it all about the glamour. As the temperatures are not melting. The guys will love to wear the full dinner suit and the ladies can go to town with disco sparkles and full on hollywood furs for that winter chill.  Sparklers at night will add to that whole winter wonderland affair

Rossendale Wedding  photography- WHAT a wedding! When a wedding venue has something a little different, then it gives me something exciting to get creative with.  Being based in Lancashire, I’m luck enough to photography at many unique wedding venues.  However this particular venue not only extremely unique, its based in the next village to home, in Helmshore, Rossendale.

Sarah & Jason an absolute joy to work with, right up my street. They met via a popular dating app, arranged to meet for a drink and the rest is history. They said they fell in love with the venue as it wasn’t a traditional wedding venue, that it was unconventional and rough around the edges. We also love Dot’s approach to farming and what’s she’s working towards in making her farm sustainable and eco-friendly

After a traditional church ceremony, in Jason’s home town of Clitheroe Lancashire we all travelled to Cronkshaw Farm in Rossendale for their party and wedding celebrations. We had a wonderful afternoon, feeding chickens, watching  the talented sheepdog round up a herd sheep. Drank beer and eat Lancashire crisps – What a total Joy!!

Ribble  Valley   wedding    photographer  – This awesome farm is located in the beautiful Alden Valley in Northern England   As well being a fully working farm, that offers venue hire for weddings & events, You can stay here in any of 4 types of rustic accommodation that they offer, including a TREEHOUSE! They can provide educational visits, toddler activity days & sheep dog demo sessions. You can zoom a goat, so they can give a special message to a loved, join in your work meeting or even have yoga session with the goats!

Cronkshaw Farm poultry, meat goats and sheep alongside our kitchen gardens, honey bees and broadleafed woodland. They use farming practices that promote healthy soils, care for the countryside, increase local wildlife and preserve traditional rural skills such as dry stone walling, hedge laying, coppicing and companion planting.

Choosing a photographer for your special day is quite daunting….are they going to make me do those cheesy poses, keep me away from my guests for hours or make really awkward jokes?! Thankfully, Jules came highly recommended by our venue and after looking through her Instagram page at previous work and having a quick informal chat….we knew she was the perfect photographer for us – and she did not disappoint!! Words cannot express how amazing Jules is! From the second we met she made us feel so welcome, and at ease (and neither of us are massive fans of having our photos taken). Lancashire   Wedding   Photographers

I normally photography at least 2 wedding at Falcon Manor every year and ever time I always find new places within the gardens and Hall to photograph. There are those classic Falcon Manor images that are always lovely to capture. Like the beautiful back lit late evening image shot outside the front doors. Portraits on the dramatic stairs  are always a must too. I’m always most excited when I discover a new little spot where I’ve never captured before. My love of the silhouette shot is a firm favorite of mine, and at Falcon Manor there are so many spots to capture dramatic Silhouettes. The beautiful windows and doorways just lend themselves to these stunning shots.

Sarah & Luke are the most adorable couple.  This particular Falcon Manor wedding has to be my all time favourites. Not only were these guys so much fun to be around, but photographing their chilly March Winter wedding was a real treat. Beth & Matt’s celebrations was my first time at the very popular Sandhole Oak Barn. Great to finally officially be able to say I’m a Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photographer. This Cheshire wedding venue really is something special. The actual venue is located right on the side of  a stunning lake, giving us an awesome backdrop for their pretty autumnal wedding. Beth’s style is super relaxed  & chilled, with her day unfolded into just that type of vibe.  Her colour choice for her bridesmaids dress was  inspired. The beautiful rust tone has to be one of my very favourite colour choices for bridesmaid dresses ever. I’m a redhead so sort of biased i guess!! – although all the girls  did look totally beautiful  in them – Could I be for you?

I   just   LOVE   Autumn colour!

As I was driving into the venue I noticed that there was a gorgeous tree lines entrance. The trees were beautiful maple trees and had all turns bright red. I have to get me some snaps near these beauties’ I thought. I greeted all the girls in prep room, settled in and started snapping away. After about 10 minutes Beth mentioned the red trees – YES! -Already clocked them. ‘Are you think what I’m thinking’ I said. She smiled. That’s when you are clicking with your bride. Already on the same wave length. Needless to say after we had taken the family portraits myself and videographer walked with the Groomsmens & Bridesmaids to the beautiful red trees and captured some pretty autumnal portraits.

Why I mention this scenario is because this is a great example of how awesome snaps just happen organically. I see a moment, a colour, a wall, reflection, sunset or a gorgeous doorway and BOOM! – I totally love my job for moments like these. Always fresh, and always uniquely spontaneous. Both Beth & Matt are real party people so it was always going to be the dancefloor moments for them, and there were a LOT! Just a small selection here for you too peek at, but I’m sure your get the vibe of their day.  I’m back at Sandhole Oak Barn next month for Simon & Darren. Another big old party wedding ( with drag queen entertainment!!)  and I cannot WAIT!

First time as a Heaton House Farm Wedding Photographer – so excited to be finally shooting at the super pretty Cheshire wedding venue, and what an awesome day it was? Everything about Jade & Ben’s day just clicked into place with me. Literally from the minute I arrived &  joined the girls in bridal prep and was greeted by the friendliest bunch  of ladies. Same when I popped over to see Ben & the boys for some groom prepping. LOTS of fabulous candid snaps on this wedding. Everyone was outside most of the day, which always makes for mega mingling and great photos. Awesome speeches, crazy dancefloor moments and a some seriously beautiful portraits, made this wedding set just come together beautifully. I have another booking later this yr & then another in 2022 , so by then I will be a  very well seasoned. Jade & Ben looked at few venues in Lancashire & Cheshire, but fell in love with Heaton House Farm due it’s landscapes and rustic beams. We also loved that the rooms could be made smaller or larger depending upon guest numbers and that there was no need for room change-over. After moving their date a few time due to COVID!! – their most looking forward too seeing & hugging all our loved ones after the horrendous year.
