I’ve Had the privilege of photographing over 25 Same Sex Weddings, all of them gorgeous and totally different. There are no rules with weddings – Gone are days where we follow a tradition of how to style yourself, plan you day, people you invite. Some couples love all the traditions of weddings and having all the traditional elements of day (although its becoming less popular). For me personally I say –  it’s your day, so do it your way. Are you having a theme? do you want a non spiritual ceremony ? maybe a celebrant? Are you having it outdoors? Is it more a party with lots of entertainment? there are lots of ways to make it totally represent your personality. The traditional main element of a wedding obviously the ceremony ( in whatever form you choose), but other than that you can make your day be whatever and do it however you like.

Wintery, glamour for this wedding , making me one happy Holmes Mill  Lancashire Winter wedding  Have the pleasure of photographing a few winter weddings at the gorgeous Holmes Mill Winter Weddings the twinkly  lights in the main room provides so much winter Joy! Slotted in between these beautiful photos from this gorgeous December wedding at Holmes Mill I’ve put together a list of reasons to which may be a game changer if your undecided about whether or not to go for a stunning winter wedding.

Get to know the couple

• How did you meet?

We met working as swimming teachers at our local leisure centre trust 9.5 years ago, we both realised we “liked” each other whilst playing a very mature game of snog, marry, avoid…

• Tell me a little about the proposal.

We went on a little getaway last December to the Lake District where we got pretty much snowed in to our lodge. On the day Jack proposed, he suggested a drive to Ennerdale lake not too far away. I was shouting at him the whole way there as the roads were pretty treacherous. When we got there Jack suggested a walk down to a little beach area. It was so cold and our little boy was not happy, I turned to give him a custard cream and when I turned back around jack was down on one knee. We enjoyed a glass of prosecco after that Jack had managed to sneak under the pram without me noticing.

• What made you choose your venue?

Holmes Mill was just very different to other venues we had seen online and we really like the idea that it is a venue we can continue to enjoy in other capacities for years to come.

Better  Rates!

It will be cheaper!.. it’s a dead cert that you venue (your most expensive layout for you wedding) will have winter rates and be a lot cheaper than mid summer months. If you go for a Thursday or Sunday you may get even better rates again. Other suppliers such as your photographer, that’s me will also offer winter discounts. I offer discounts for November, January, February & March. Ask around and you may get a discount with all your suppliers making a fabulous saving overall. Extended honeymoon anyone!

Sunning Snowy Photos

Snow Queen & King… how dreamy would a white wedding be. Now I know that no one can really plan for a white wedding, its just pot luck isn’t it. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a several of snowy weddings and they are just the beautiful. The photography is amazing as the snow bounces light everywhere., which it so flattering against the skin. Wellies are a must which adds to the relaxed fun feel of the photos, although I have had brides who have braved the wedding shoes for that awesome shoe shot.Dress up for a winter wedding – you can make it all about the glamour. As the temperatures are not melting. The guys will love to wear the full dinner suit and the ladies can go to town with disco sparkles and full on hollywood furs for that winter chill.  Sparklers at night will add to that whole winter wonderland affair

I am totally thrilled that I have had several bookings this year at Holmes Mill Lancashire – well as you know I love colourful weddings, making my photo edits pop. So give me a quirky wedding at this awesome Lancashire venue too and i’m just in my element. Located in the heart of Clitheroe, is the beautifully converted Holmes Mill.  Wedding ceremonies at Holmes Mill  are always amazing to photography as this room as so much atmosphere. Robyn & Tom choose to dance down the aisle  after the ceremony, with all the guests following, shaking their thing too, which I must say brought another extra vibe to the day. Lottie – their furbaby was the sat of the day, even having a front row seat for the ceremony. The theme of the day was music. Festival being their shared love.

Dogs at Lancashire weddings are or babies, part of the family and loves of our lives. So why shouldn’t they be at our Wedding Day! Over the past 5 years I have had more couples inviting their dogs to the wedding. They have been VIP guests. Ring Bearers or just loving comfort blankets!. They get dressed up in bow ties, ribbons, flashy collars  & waistcoats. Are given luxury dog food at dinner time and basically have a bloody good day out! There are more  wedding venues that are really cool with having dogs at weddings. This year that ever there has been more Dogs at Lancashire weddings.

More farms are offering to host your wedding these days. Opening up the opportunity of having all-sorts of quirky animals  at your wedding. Some of the more popular ones in Lancashire can offer you time in your wedding plan to have photos and cuddles with Llama, Donkeys, Horses, Chicken & Alpaca’s!. I’ve also photographed wedding where a fabulous company will bring the llamas to YOU! Never work with children & animals they say!:)… well as a wedding photographer you will work with both. Sometimes at the same time!. All animals really do make for great photo opportunities. We never know what’s going to happen next,; and that’s why it so GOOD!. Unpredictable & exciting. Hopefully as i push the trigger your doggie will give you the biggest lick around the chops or the classic shot – THE POOP!:)

Mostly because of Sophie & Matt, but also because of the dreamy golden hour we had at Cromwell bridge. There are lots of  great spots for portraits including stairwells, 1920’s cocktail bar, engine room, cinema seats in the main dining room & the food hall – YES the food hall. Its  AMAZING for quirky, colourful portraits. There are many other great spots too; many to mention, but one of the favorites is the metal storage containers at the front of the bar. Not always accessible on a busy Saturday, but they do make for some great imagery. Quirky Holmes Mill Wedding Clitheroe. This area also doubles as a great location for your evening images. Lit with festoon lighting for a dreamy feel; deal for  those sparkler images too.

The major plus about the barn is as its a complete blank canvas, so you can add whatever styles of  décor  you desire. Elegant, Rustic, Boho, Simple,  Autumnal & Colouful. Lake Love

The lake is a fantastic addition for any couple and a Browsholme Hall Wedding Photographer.  My absolute favourite captures her is  golden hour Each time its simply stunning. So my advice to you would be that even if you don’t want to go onto the boat – go to lake anyway just and have a little quiet time & some creative portraits. It’s a must addition to your portraits.
