River Barn is a very chic,  contemporary Lancashire wedding barn, set in the beautifully landscaped gardens and woodlands. On the outskirts of Preston, in Poulton-le-Fylde. The stunning walled gardens make a gorgeous backdrop for your wedding portraits, giving both contemporary and country vibes. Amy & Keiran’s wedding is not my first time at River Barn in Lancashire, as I’ve had the plasure of several weddings as a  River Barn wedding photographer. So I know this gorgeous Lancashire wedding venue really well and of course it’s always lovely to be back.

This was my first time photographing a Winter wedding at the River Barn in Lancashire and what a fabulous December day it was. We booked her for our wedding 2 years ago and had a pre-wedding engagement shoot a year earlier to familiarize ourselves with the camera experience. Get to know the couple

• How did you meet?- We met on Bumble in Oct 2021 and our first date was at mini golf in central London, what was supposed to be a 2-hour date MAX was a full 8 hours of taking until the bar kicked us out!
• Tell me a little about the proposal – We were in Egypt and had got up at 5am from jet lag and decided on a walk along the beach. At the edge of the pier Kieran proposed and it was so beautiful with the beach scenery but no-one around. Although the ring almost fell into the sea it was perfect!
• What made your choose your venue? -The perfect mix of modern and rustic features, as well as the friendly staff and incredible fireplace which is *chefs kiss* for a winter wedding.

Where do I even start with Jules. I am lost for words but I’ll try! My main worry about our wedding was that my partner absolutely HATES photos, I don’t think he would’ve been bothered if I told him I hadn’t even booked a photographer! It was a major concern of mine how he was going to deal with it on the day and I was really stressing for a long time about it. But oh WOW. After the ceremony we went off for our couples photos. I cannot explain the difference I saw in my husband. He was totally relaxed because of her. He was actually enjoying posing for the pictures!!! Even to the point he was showing Jules some of his own new poses he’d come up with. Tipi at Riley Green Wedding Venue – get to know the couple

• How did you meet?

How did you meet? Online (match.com). I was living in Nottingham at the time, so it probably shouldn’t have worked, but we clicked and James decided to come and visit for the weekend. I moved back up North a few weeks later and 8 months after that, lockdown hit, which gave us a choice- live together or don’t see each other for an unspecified amount of time. We went for it and did the lockdown in a two-room flat… I regret nothing ????

• Tell me a little about the proposal.

We were staying a night at a manor house in Scotland on our way to Edinburgh fringe. James took me on a walk by a river in the evening and told me all the reasons he loved me, then got down on one knee. It was super romantic but super muddy. A few seconds later he said ‘can I get up now? I’ve only brought one pair of jeans for this trip.’

• What made your choose your venue?

We really wanted a relaxed day where people genuinely had fun. We’re not big drinkers, so we wanted to shift the focus from the night do and the bar towards the afternoon and lawn games. We knew the tipis were perfect as soon as we saw them.

After a 10 year gap of photographing West Tower weddings in Lancashire, 2024 has definitely made up for it! Ashley & Shaun’s autumn wedding was my third time this year as Wedding Photographer at West Tower, which has been a real treat. My bride Ashley really made the most of the Autumn Theme, making it absolutely beautiful. She choose the perfect suppliers to make her vision happen and me to capture it all, which was a real privilege. Dreamy walk through the woods for 10 minutes to capture their relaxed portraits , was just wonderful.
