So happy to be sharing Rachel & Deb’s  gorgeous Stirk House wedding with you. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many wedding at this Lancashire wedding venue over the years. Making me a well rounded Shirk House wedding photographer. However its been a while since I was last here, so I really wanted showcase Rachel & Debs wedding, as its my most up to date look at this wonderful Lancashire wedding venue.

Rachel & Debs had a twilight wedding ceremony, into relaxed drinks then the evening reception. Making their day feel more like a big party. We lucked out with the February weather, landing a dry, sunny day. Giving us gorgeous light into the early evening.

Beeston Manor, Lancashire is one of the first wedding venues I photographed at when I made the move 17 years ago from Manchester to Lancashire. Its recently had a complete renovation, which I’m excited to return  later this year for another wedding and see all the new additions. There’s a new luxury  bridal suite for the ladies and smart chill out area, The Den for the fellas. Lancashire’s Beeston Manor is also one of the only Lancashire wedding venues that I know of  hat has its own Helicopter pad within its grounds. Perfect if you fancy a grand entrance!

Well it was only by chance that we met Jules at a wedding fair and I am so glad that we did! She made us feel relaxed and comfortable from the start and explained the wedding process clearly. Communication was great all the way up to and including the day. Jules is fun, organized and blended in with the guests that sometimes we didn’t even realize she was there. How did you meet?

Tell me a little about the proposal.

The first was made by Danielle in Prague, 1^st August 23. We went up Petrin hill, Danielle then showed me a video that she had made, it was a compilation of lots of pictures of us and also friends and family that spelt out the message of ‘Do you want to do this marriage thing or what?’ Vicki had actually also already bought a ring! So the original plan was to do it in Cyprus at the end of August for on our anniversary, instead she brought it forward.It was done by setting up the living room with lights and candles, creating a picnic and setting up a game of Uno (something we play all the time) In Danielle’s hand was a blank uno card that said ‘Will you do this marriage thing with me too?’ ????

What made your chose your venue?

We both loved it!  Beeston Manor had a real cosy feel, gorgeous wooden beams and bright conservatory room was just perfect for what we needed.

I just adore big bright bold LOVE colour, so when your booked to photography an Autumn wedding at the stunning Lancashire wedding venue, Eaves Hall, you have to do a little happy dance. This time of year at Lancashire’s Eaves Hall is just a beautiful sea of reds, golds and browns. Add the hazy golden hours that Autumn gives us and its really has to be my favourite season in the wedding calendar. So when Rebecca & Adam booked me as their  Autumn wedding photography at Lanacashire Eaves Hall   it was a dream booking.

HOT HOT HOT!! – Is the first thing that springs to mind when I think about this  Mid August wedding at the stunning Styal Lodge . It was one of the hottest days of the year,and even factor 50 couldn’t help! Saying  hat it did give us great light and a killer golden hour so TICK! This chic August wedding had it all. Gospel choir, beer pong,  a amazing magician,  a wild PPAAARRTTTYYYY and a big sparker finish at the end of the evening. Plus that beautiful golden hour? We decided the golden hour was the time to pop down to lake and make the most of the beautiful light. Which gave this gorgeous couple time to have a little quest time before the evening guests arrived. Will time for, a little stroll & a first dance practice ruin too. Then we  heading back to the lodge for some photo booth action, cocktails and the evening party. I’m pretty lucky that this is my third time, as a Styal Lodge wedding Photographer, so know the venue and amazing staff really well – (to read more about this fantastic venue scroll down- don’t forget to check out the pretty pictures on the way!)

Styal Wedding Lodge is a family-run, bespoke wedding venue set in the peaceful National Trust village of Styal, in the beautiful Cheshire countryside. An exclusive, contemporary, unique wedding venue in Cheshire. It whole venue so so well designed it flows so well from the stunning and huge! –  bridal preparation room, into ceremony room which leads straight into the enormous dining area. Choosing a photographer for your special day is quite daunting….are they going to make me do those cheesy poses, keep me away from my guests for hours or make really awkward jokes?! Thankfully, Jules came highly recommended by our venue and after looking through her Instagram page at previous work and having a quick informal chat….we knew she was the perfect photographer for us – and she did not disappoint!! From the moment she arrived to capture my preparations in the morning, she felt like a family member. Words cannot express how amazing Jules is! From the second we met she made us feel so welcome, and at ease (and neither of us are massive fans of having our photos taken). Jules was there every step of the way and always happy to answer questions, whether it be providing straight forward, but helpful, documents to complete prior to the wedding, to advising on inspiration pics/styles etc. The day ran like clockwork with Jules’ help, with her getting the perfect photo opportunities and even mucking in to help with the bridesmaids and flowers. There were times that we completely forgot that photos were being taken as we were so relaxed. We loved receiving some sneak peek photos the day after the wedding, all of which were absolutely stunning. Lancashire   Wedding   Photographers

I normally photography at least 2 wedding at Falcon Manor every year and ever time I always find new places within the gardens and Hall to photograph. There are those classic Falcon Manor images that are always lovely to capture. Like the beautiful back lit late evening image shot outside the front doors. Portraits on the dramatic stairs  are always a must too. I’m always most excited when I discover a new little spot where I’ve never captured before. My love of the silhouette shot is a firm favorite of mine, and at Falcon Manor there are so many spots to capture dramatic Silhouettes. The beautiful windows and doorways just lend themselves to these stunning shots.

Sarah & Luke are the most adorable couple.  This particular Falcon Manor wedding has to be my all time favourites. Not only were these guys so much fun to be around, but photographing their chilly March Winter wedding was a real treat. We popped out briefly in the fresh March air  for some cute sunlit garden portraits. Sarah & Saz chose to have my midweek coverage for their Thursday wedding, opting to extend it from 3hrs to 5hr. There was no preparations photography needed, and their celebrations at spring Cottage ended at 6pm. So ceremony, portraits, speeches, dinner, relaxing and first dance were all fitted neatly into a 5hrs coverage. The small selection of images below from their big day, are a perfect example of how many fabulous images you receive for type of coverage. Spring Cottage  wedding photographer

I fell in love with Spring Cottage as soon as I arrived. What a truly hidden gem of a wedding venue if you are looking for relaxed, informal vibes for your celebrations. Spring Cottage run weddings in the spring / summer peak season, from May to October. For me it the ideal venue for a intimate midweek wedding, like Sarah & Saz’s. Spring Cottage is set in the beautiful Rivington woodland in Bolton.  The venue allows space internally and externally for you to celebrate with close family and friends. Whilst internal rooms are beautifully decorated, the venue can come as a blank canvas, allowing couples to add their own personal touch whether that be adding individual decor or choosing table decorations.  The grounds can also be used by you too, whether that be for photographs or just for children to play and explore. The food is incredible ( I had a delicious meal provided by the couple?) catering menu changes depending on the season and is locally sourced. I absolutely loved my first time shooting here. So many great spots for portraits. Even using the happy yellow Hen house for some snaps – I just couldn’t resist, THAT COLOUR!!

Beth & Matt’s celebrations was my first time at the very popular Sandhole Oak Barn. Great to finally officially be able to say I’m a Sandhole Oak Barn Wedding Photographer. This Cheshire wedding venue really is something special. The actual venue is located right on the side of  a stunning lake, giving us an awesome backdrop for their pretty autumnal wedding. Beth’s style is super relaxed  & chilled, with her day unfolded into just that type of vibe.  Her colour choice for her bridesmaids dress was  inspired. The beautiful rust tone has to be one of my very favourite colour choices for bridesmaid dresses ever. I’m a redhead so sort of biased i guess!! – although all the girls  did look totally beautiful  in them – Could I be for you?

I   just   LOVE   Autumn colour!

As I was driving into the venue I noticed that there was a gorgeous tree lines entrance. The trees were beautiful maple trees and had all turns bright red. I have to get me some snaps near these beauties’ I thought. I greeted all the girls in prep room, settled in and started snapping away. After about 10 minutes Beth mentioned the red trees – YES! -Already clocked them. ‘Are you think what I’m thinking’ I said. She smiled. That’s when you are clicking with your bride. Already on the same wave length. Needless to say after we had taken the family portraits myself and videographer walked with the Groomsmens & Bridesmaids to the beautiful red trees and captured some pretty autumnal portraits.

Why I mention this scenario is because this is a great example of how awesome snaps just happen organically. I see a moment, a colour, a wall, reflection, sunset or a gorgeous doorway and BOOM! – I totally love my job for moments like these. Always fresh, and always uniquely spontaneous. Both Beth & Matt are real party people so it was always going to be the dancefloor moments for them, and there were a LOT! Just a small selection here for you too peek at, but I’m sure your get the vibe of their day.  I’m back at Sandhole Oak Barn next month for Simon & Darren. Another big old party wedding ( with drag queen entertainment!!)  and I cannot WAIT!

I’ve been lucky enough to have photographed many weddings at the Outbarn in Lancashire . Always so happy to be back here, photographing weddings at this dreamy Lancashire wedding venue is an absolute pleasure. I’ve been here every season, from the hottest summer days to misty winter ones. In fact my most recent wedding was 2 weeks go in January. I’m here 5 times in 2024, with several bookings already in the diary for 2026 too. My first ever wedding here was  in the Summer of 2021 – Carly & Alex blog post which was a cracker of day with plenty of golden fields and golden light- just the BEST!

Meet the Outbarn couple

• How did you meet?

We were in the same college at university in Durham. We knew of each other, and our eyes locked across the dancefloor of Klute – Durham’s infamously terrible (and sadly now closed) nightclub. That was 2011, the rest is history.

• Tell me a little about the proposal.

At the end of a 5-day kayaking trip in Haida Gwaii (a remote group of islands off the west coast of Canada), we went for a short walk at the end of a day together overlooking the sea. There was no on one knee moment, we both talked about it (although Jimmy initiated the conversation) and engaged we became.

• What made your choose your The Outbarn?

The views, the welcoming vibe of the staff, the location (close to where Jimmy grew up), plus the owner is a friend of a friend.
