Get To Know Our Couple

How did you meet?  At Benicassim festival in Spain after our first year at university.

Tell me a little about the proposal. –  [From Mel’s POV] Harry let me plan a trip to the lakes (very clever as I would definitely suspect otherwise) and let me choose which mountain to climb. I chose Blencathra which I had my eye on for a while. It was a warm June day and Harry had to splash water on his face when we started climbing from a nearby stream due to getting a ‘headache’ (definitely nerves). He found the whole walk challenging and kept telling me so but at the peak I was checking out the view and Harry said “how about this?” holding up the most beautiful and perfect ring. I just giggled and took the ring!!

What made you choose your venue? We knew we wanted to split out the ceremony from the party, a pub for the first day being ideal, and a brewery for the party just sounded fun! Mel loves the lakes so much and really wanted the wedding to be there. Mel (instead of working) did a load of research and we only ended up viewing the Buttermere Court Hotel with its dramatic views and the Venue in Kendal for its proximity to Manchester and knew they were perfect!

So happy to be sharing Rachel & Deb’s  gorgeous Stirk House wedding with you. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many wedding at this Lancashire wedding venue over the years. Making me a well rounded Shirk House wedding photographer. However its been a while since I was last here, so I really wanted showcase Rachel & Debs wedding, as its my most up to date look at this wonderful Lancashire wedding venue.

Rachel & Debs had a twilight wedding ceremony, into relaxed drinks then the evening reception. Making their day feel more like a big party. We lucked out with the February weather, landing a dry, sunny day. Giving us gorgeous light into the early evening.

Beeston Manor, Lancashire is one of the first wedding venues I photographed at when I made the move 17 years ago from Manchester to Lancashire. Its recently had a complete renovation, which I’m excited to return  later this year for another wedding and see all the new additions. There’s a new luxury  bridal suite for the ladies and smart chill out area, The Den for the fellas. Lancashire’s Beeston Manor is also one of the only Lancashire wedding venues that I know of  hat has its own Helicopter pad within its grounds. Perfect if you fancy a grand entrance!

How did you meet?

Tell me a little about the proposal.

The first was made by Danielle in Prague, 1^st August 23. We went up Petrin hill, Danielle then showed me a video that she had made, it was a compilation of lots of pictures of us and also friends and family that spelt out the message of ‘Do you want to do this marriage thing or what?’ Vicki had actually also already bought a ring! So the original plan was to do it in Cyprus at the end of August for on our anniversary, instead she brought it forward.It was done by setting up the living room with lights and candles, creating a picnic and setting up a game of Uno (something we play all the time) In Danielle’s hand was a blank uno card that said ‘Will you do this marriage thing with me too?’ ????

What made your chose your venue?

We both loved it!  Beeston Manor had a real cosy feel, gorgeous wooden beams and bright conservatory room was just perfect for what we needed.

This beautiful Knutsford wedding venue is totally delightful. I had visited the venue earlier in 2025 for a styled wedding photoshoot with Little White Books Magazine, but Beth & Joe’s wedding was my first official wedding as a  The Oak Tree Of Peover wedding Photographer.  Since this wedding I’ve actually secured another two bookings for 2026 & 2027 here, so I’m delighted to be heading back soon. The day was wall to wall sunshine, which made for some incredible candid photos of guests relaxing and enjoy the celebrations. One of the many highlights of the day was Olive their pretty pooch. She stole the show completely when she delivered the rings during the outdoor ceremony. One of my favourite Ribble Valley wedding venues for beautiful wedding photography is the Outbarn in Clitheroe. If you haven’t seen this venue up close, you must visit one of their open days. They run around 6 each year. Mainly in February and March, and then later in the season around October and November time. Looking forward to Outbarn wedding photography in 2024. Proposal – We got engaged in Chester. Joe had taken us away for a relaxing night away and a spa weekend. Joe had “nipped back up to the room” to get our things ready, however he was actually writing “marry me” on the bed out of rose petals and rose petals all over the floor with fairy lights leading up to it.

Our Venue – I found the Outbarn on Instagram, our baby was around 5/6 months old and we decided if we didn’t get married now, we weren’t sure when we would get the chance to and wanted to do it when our daughter would be involved.

Where do I even start with Jules. I am lost for words but I’ll try! My main worry about our wedding was that my partner absolutely HATES photos, I don’t think he would’ve been bothered if I told him I hadn’t even booked a photographer! It was a major concern of mine how he was going to deal with it on the day and I was really stressing for a long time about it. But oh WOW. After the ceremony we went off for our couples photos. I cannot explain the difference I saw in my husband. He was totally relaxed because of her. He was actually enjoying posing for the pictures!!! Even to the point he was showing Jules some of his own new poses he’d come up with. He was absolutely loving life and from the last 7 years I’ve been with Liam I have never ever witnessed this from him around a camera.
