This beautiful Knutsford wedding venue is totally delightful. I had visited the venue earlier in 2025 for a styled wedding photoshoot with Little White Books Magazine, but Beth & Joe’s wedding was my first official wedding as a  The Oak Tree Of Peover wedding Photographer.  Since this wedding I’ve actually secured another two bookings for 2026 & 2027 here, so I’m delighted to be heading back soon. The day was wall to wall sunshine, which made for some incredible candid photos of guests relaxing and enjoy the celebrations. One of the many highlights of the day was Olive their pretty pooch. She stole the show completely when she delivered the rings during the outdoor ceremony. Ashfield house is simply a gorgeous blank canvas. It has the grand feel of a manor house, yet homely. Its  jammed packed full of quirky details (old and new), yet somehow manages to soak up the personality of each couple. The atmosphere is modern, chic & elegant. It has the charm of a manor house on its own estate, but on a smaller scale . Which is ideal for large weddings or a midweek intimate wedding alike.  I’ve  been lucky enough to be a  Ashfield House wedding photographer on numerous occasions. It never disappoints and no matter what time of year, its just stunning to shoot at. Ashfield house weddings

Weddings at Ashfield House are always beautiful, s o when I was asked if I was available on New Years Eve  to be Kate & Sam’s Wedding photographer at Ashfield house, I was totally in! I’ll be honest a big reason was because of the venue.  After a beautiful traditional church ceremony, we headed over to Ashfield House for the party. All the couples/ family portraits were taken as soon as we arrived. Beating the winter early sunset, and giving Kate & Sam plenty of time to relax with their guests.

Better  Rates!

It will be cheaper!.. its a dead cert that you venue (your most expensive layout for you wedding) will have winter rates and be a lot cheaper than mid summer months. If you go for a Thursday or Sunday you may get even better rates again. Other suppliers such as your photographer, that’s me will also offer winter discounts. I offer discounts for November, January, February & March. Ask around and you may get a discount with all your suppliers making a fabulous saving overall. Extended honeymoon anyone!

No Hot Mess

Lets face it – we think we want a hot sunny day but it really just leads to HOT MESS. The hair and make up melting away. Guys in their 3 piece suits over heating. Me! – taking you into the shade for photos cause the best backdrop at the venue has a blazing sun beating down onto it and everyone is blinded by the light. You get sunburn on or wedding day. I SEEN IT HAPPEN!!. Sunny wedding sound great but in reality it can be too much in a heavy full length dress of dreams, I have seen so many brides melting in the heat of summer and wishing they had gone for a thinner cooler dress. As a Browsholmwe Hall winter wedding photographer I’d say Winter Wedding’s win here too!

Less Stress

Winter weddings can definitely be less stressful to plan, get RSVP’s back from guests etc. In the summer friends are planning holidays and have busy calendars. The kids are off school there are so many factors. During Jan to March people are more likely to be free. It a time of year where not much is happening and everyone is up for a fabulous event  that they can put on their sparkiest outfits and head off to a party . As its a slower time for all us wedding suppliers we are refreshed, are looking head to the new year with fresh ideas and goals so everyone is at there a game.

All your loose ends will be tried up before Christmas so you can just kick back and relax over the festive period and enjoy!

Photos back quicker.

Between April & October the wedding photographer calendar is full on, as this when I shoot 90% of my yearly weddings. December can be a busy month for weddings for me too, but general November, January, February & March are the quieter month. So I can turn around a  full wedding edit in maybe 2 weeks rather than 6 weeks. Your videographer will possibly be the same. Get to see all you amazing photo & memories straight after the honeymoon. Sometimes I even send them to my couples as while they are on honeymoon.

Sunning Snowy Photos

Snow Queen & King… how dreamy would a white wedding be. Now I know that no one can really plan for a white wedding, its just pot luck isn’t it. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing a several of snowy weddings and they are just the beautiful. The photography is amazing as the snow bounces light everywhere., which it so flattering against the skin. Wellies are a must which adds to the relaxed fun feel of the photos, although I have had brides who have braved the wedding shoes for that awesome shoe shot.

Go Glamour!

Dress up for a winter wedding – you can make it all about the glamour. As the temperatures are not melting. The guys will love to wear the full dinner suit and the ladies can go to town with disco sparkles and full on hollywood furs for that winter chill.  Sparklers at night will add to that whole winter wonderland affair

WHAT a fabulous year for me as Lancashire Wedding photographer

I was lucky enough to be non stop shooting from February to December this year, making 2022 one of my busiest years to date. As well as photographing lots of beautiful Lancashire weddings I also had the pleasure of getting down into Cheshire, Manchester and over to Yorkshire for a few wedding too. I generally photography weddings in and around the surrounding areas of the Ribble Valley, although I’m more than happy to photography anywhere in The North West.

I had the pleasure of covering some of my favourite Lancashire wedding venues this year including – Browsholme Hall,  Holmes Mill,  Eaves Hall, Bartle Hall,  Falcon Manor & Ashfield House.

Just wow! Jules photographed our wedding in April this year and was the perfect addition to our day from the moment she arrived, photography skills amazing but Jules is also the loveliest person who was on hand throughout the day to just help wherever she could, from helping tidy up with the bridal party to keeping an eye on our daughter whilst she napped during the wedding breakfast, she made us feel completely at ease! – Our day was captured perfectly and we now have the best bunch of pictures to treasure – thank you so much, we are so grateful!

First time as a Heaton House Farm Wedding Photographer – so excited to be finally shooting at the super pretty Cheshire wedding venue, and what an awesome day it was? Everything about Jade & Ben’s day just clicked into place with me. Literally from the minute I arrived &  joined the girls in bridal prep and was greeted by the friendliest bunch  of ladies. Same when I popped over to see Ben & the boys for some groom prepping. LOTS of fabulous candid snaps on this wedding. Everyone was outside most of the day, which always makes for mega mingling and great photos. Awesome speeches, crazy dancefloor moments and a some seriously beautiful portraits, made this wedding set just come together beautifully. I have another booking later this yr & then another in 2022 , so by then I will be a  very well seasoned. Jade & Ben looked at few venues in Lancashire & Cheshire, but fell in love with Heaton House Farm due it’s landscapes and rustic beams. We also loved that the rooms could be made smaller or larger depending upon guest numbers and that there was no need for room change-over. After moving their date a few time due to COVID!! – their most looking forward too seeing & hugging all our loved ones after the horrendous year.

Small weddings have always been popular for weekday couples or those who have small families groups and want minimal fuss. Covid-19 and the government restrictions re gatherings has made these smaller gatherings – Micro weddings become a whole new thing within the wedding industry and are proving really popular.

Elopements

Ever imagined just running off with your better half and getting married in secret? just the two of you. How romantic! Big party later?  Think how much more simpler it would be. With all your everlasting memories captured forever, with some beautiful  relaxed wedding photos. We always think of elopements as something that happens in 1940’s or Hollywood movies. It really does have that air of excitement about it.  Is an intimate weddings & Elopements perfect for you ?

Weekday Weddings

Monday to Thursday weddings have always been geared towards smaller more intimate weddings . If you are thinking of having a smaller numbers venues are more likely to cater for this on these quieter days of the week. It opens up the wedding dining to maybe even a restaurant rather than a hotel. Making pricing per head a lot cheaper. Maybe keeping things casual with a barbeque. Outfits – dress  & suit can be more relaxed and low key too. For some people this is a real bonus at they have never thought of themselves in the big white wedding dress or 3 piece suit affair.You could go the other way and book the venue of your dreams that you could never afford on a Saturday in the middle of Summer BUT…a Tuesday in January or February maybe right on budget. Just 15 to 20 close family and friends and you have a the perfect day!

Bartle Hall is a little gem of wedding venue. Stunning manor house, cost barn, picture picture grounds, its basically has everything that a Bartle Hall Wedding Photographer would want in a wedding venue. No wonder its so popular with couples across Lancashire.  Met Helen & Andrew at a wedding fair and so excited when I found out that they were planning an outdoor ceremony. It was my first one that I photographed at Bartle Hall. Although I’ve had the pleasure of photographing many more since.

I have been lucky enough to be a Castlefield Room wedding photographer – Manchester several times. Its an amazing venue on so many levels.  Like the Town Hall the location has so many different backdrops for your portraits. Running along the side of the Manchester ship Canal are the urban train viaducts; and the structural bridges that run over the ship canal.  Shona & Andrew really had the best that Manchester can offer for their wedding. With both their Manchester Town Hall ceremony & Castlefield Rooms wedding party. So much love for this Manchester wedding. Take me back!

Manchester    Town    Hall   Weddings

Manchester city center is an amazing location for a wedding. With Manchester Town Hall being  pretty extra special. Shona & Andrew had one of the very last weddings at Manchester Town Hall in late 2017. It closed its doors a few months after until 2026 for a renovation. The budget for the whole project – including a size-able contingency element which should reduce over time – has been set at up to £328.3 million. Hopefully I will be one of the first photographers back in when it reopens. I’ve had the pleasure of photographing around 10 weddings at Manchester Town Hall. I’ve had  fabulous Summer weddings through to wintry December weddings, when the famous inflatable Santa is sat right on top of the Town Hall.

Relaxed    Wedding    Photography

The surroundings locations including Albert Square, Central Library and The Midland Hotel are all perfect backdrops for some relaxed portraiture photography. Taking in the whole loop is around 15 minutes. Capturing the beautiful bustling streets of the city. The Town Hall itself has the most amazing  features with  large stained glass windows. Adding gorgeous soft natural lighting to any portrait. The tiled flooring is something very special too, with the ironic Manchester Bee mosaic. This has to be the most popular tile for most wedding photographers – including myself! (see  images below). The interior has been used for numerous BBC Dramas  & Films often doubling up as the Houses of Parliament due to its grand appearance.

As a wedding photographer, being asked to photography a wedding at the Midland Hotel Manchester is always a big deal. Its such an icon Manchester building!I currently live in Edenfield,  Lancashire. I love all being in the sticks (as city folk say!). Although I am originally a MANC born & bred. I spent all of my teenage years & most of early twenties enjoying this wonderful City. There was a brief spell away from my beloved Manc, while I  studying photography in the  North East,  & travelling in Europe & America. Although I would say all my early adult memories, are of working in different restaurants & bars in the city. Including the original Temple Bar ( underground urinal, turned into a bar!) before the now famous Northern Quarter was even around. Lots of partying at Ritz,  Rockworld &  The Hacienda.  So Manchester truly does hold a very special place in heart.My first taste of photography was also in the city. As my secondary school was just 1/2 mile away from the centre.  When studying my GCSE aged 15, I would be found wandering around the streets of Manchester photographing graffiti walls &  incredible buildings; learning to be CREATIVE WITH A LENS!.

Midland   Hotel   Weddings

The Midland Hotel in Manchester is such an icon hotel for many reasons. Its a stunning 1920’s Art Deco inspired design building. The architecture is so unique,  that you can’t help but notice it. It was also the meeting place of Mr Rolls & Mr Royce – yes the partnership that created the world famous Rolls Royce car was formed here. To me it was a place that as a small child  i was always in awe of. It seemed so grand that only very rich people could ever go inside;  and here I am, a Manchester wedding photographer at the Midland Hotel – made it:)

Manchester    Weddings

Christina & Michael’s wedding was an intimate affair with just close family for most of the day, switching to a big parry with lots of friends & family for the evening. These guys are both very stylish and their wedding styling reflected just that. We split the portraits into a  walk around the library and town hall after the ceremony. Then another 10 minutes around the hotel after dinner. Capturing a great mix of urban & deco portraits. Their party was a complete blast!. I was able to capture some great dance floor antics and plenty of tipsy expressions. Taking me right back to MY MANCHESTER nights out!
